At Punching Up we want to kick the system back into shape. We pledge to attack anyone and everyone from the world of politics and try to make it actually fucking interesting where we can. We’re not scared to criticise and scrutinise wherever possible.
taking the piss out of the tories, labour, and anyone else we can think of, and getting serious when we have to.
I’m a budding journalist from the grim North (if these two things can be reconciled). I took up Journalism Studies at Sheffield, writing features on sport, culture and data journalism. Now I’m embarking on my scathing political swan song: swatting politicians’ bullshit at Punching Up.
I am on my own journey to try and be more informed and learn more about politics. What I care about is holding those in power to account and informing and investigating issues people actually care about, and having a laugh while we are at it!
I’ve been a politics nerd ever since Brexit taught me our so-called politicians have no idea what they’re doing. As a journalist, I hope to make a few Old Etonians uncomfortable – and make lying, self-serving career politicians squirm.
I am a journalism student at uni in Sheffield. Being from the nondescript City of Derby, I am at home with dull and boring (good news for Keir Starmer). My left-wing political views lend themselves to Labour but I’m more anti-Tory than anything.
My family thought a 12-year-old would find other things to do than argue about social inequality and politics, but ten years, a few elections, and countless protests later, they’ve probably given up hope. I’m an intersectional feminist and I believe that politics should be driven by compassion, however far-off that seems sometimes.
I am a long suffering observer of the political world and possess a healthy cynicism about all levels of British politics. I am looking forward to capitalising on the chaos and giving politicians the punching they deserve.
I’m an aspiring person man thing, stumbling my way through the trifles of the current day, trying to outlast the lettuce. I’m also a vegetarian from Bristol so that takes up most of my personality. Enjoy the punch!
